Civil Engineering profession, although is the oldest profession did not have a Society of its own in India unlike other Engineering disciplines. To fill this vacuum and to improve and establish the standards of Civil Engineering and/Architectural Engineering professions, ICE(I) came into being ICE(I) is professional Society registered under the Societies Registration Act 1860. A with its registered office in Ludhiana and corporate office in Delhi. ICE (I) is committed to support and promote professional learning (both for students and for existing practitioners), managing professional ethics and safeguarding the status of Engineers and representing the interest of the respective profession in dealing with the Government and various other stakeholders of the Society. The Institution of Civil Engineers Society runs the Institution of Civil Engineers (India) which is the only Institution of its kind in India which provides avenues for quality (education in Civil Engineering/Architectural Engineering disciplines in particular for working professionals. In order to partake in the skilling mission, ICE(I) has already been empanelled as an National Assessing Body under Skill Development Initiative (SDI) based on Modular Employable Skills (MES) for all States/UTs by the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Govt. of India vide order No. DGET-2/4/2014-MES/IS (Part-3) dated 26th March, 2014 for all modules of Construction Sector. In addition to the above, the MOMA (Ministry of Minority Affairs) has empanelled the Society as PIA for providing Academic and Skill inputs to hundreds of candidates in the State of Punjab. Apart from the above, the Society has also been empanelled for providing skill training under the DDU-GKY programme in the State of Rajasthan, Uttarakhand & Maharashtra. The Society has been empanelled in the State of Punjab by the PSDM for skill training to the candidates.
