Since its inception in 1976, the Halim Academy of Sitar has taught students the musical discipline and the art of Sitar, and Jafferkhani Baaj, under the guidance of its founder, late Padmabhushan Ustad Abdul Halim Jaffer Khan. The academy has hosted annual concerts to showcase young talents. The Academy has invited luminaries from the Indian classical world to perform at its main stage events. The training program at the Academy and events are currently overseen by its Director, Sitarist, Composer, Educator Zunain Halim Khan. Select performances have included: Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, Pt. Jasraj, Smt. Zarine Sharma, Ustad Rashid Khan, Pt. Bhajan Sopori & Abhay Sopori, Dr. L. Subramaniam, Dr. Ashwini Bhide (Vocal), and Abhay Rustom Sopori (Santoor), among many others.
