HEREDITAS is one of the oldest journals in the world specializing in the study of inheritance. It enjoys a distinguished reputation of having published classical papers particularly in the area of cytogenetics, ecological and population genetics, plant and animal breeding and human genetics. As of 2013, HEREDITAS also publishes gene expression pattern data. It has its editorial office in Lund (Sweden). As of May 2015, HEREDITAS has become part of BIoMed Central.
