Ataneres is a young, professional string orchestra with roots in Leuven. In addition to the great string repertoire, the ensemble focuses also on original combinations across various music and art genres. The ensemble is under the artistic direction of violinist Wim Spaepen and works with renowned musicians such as Lore Binon, Yannick Van de Velde, Liebrecht Vanbeckevoort, Karel Deseure, Roeland Hendrikx, Piet Swerts, Steve Willaert. Due to the vast orchestra and chamber music experience of the musicians, they form an interactive and solid ensemble where active and vibrant music playing is the main purpose. Ataneres received the Fuga Trophy for its performances and recordings of Belgian contemporary music. The ensemble can also be expanded with wind instruments and/or percussion into a chamber orchestra for the accompaniment of choir and studio work.
