Bridge Creative was set up to support vulnerable young people in volunteer roles both as ‘creatives’ in our workshop and at events and festivals around the country, and to support events and festivals to be more socially responsible. After working with adults with learning disabilities over the past 7 years, I realised that there was nothing available for young adults who either couldn’t afford day services or didn’t need day services, but needed the skills and support to be able to volunteer and work in the event and creative industries. As a music festival organiser, I found that trying to keep event costs down while trying to be socially responsible and look after the environment was a very hard task! We used recyclable materials wherever possible, making huge art installations and signs out of wood pallets and supported people with learning disabilities to help out. Seeing the benefits for both the festival and the people we supported, sparked the idea for Bridge Creative. Our mission is to inspire creativity, social responsibility and wellbeing and we will do this by supporting people in a creative design business aimed at events & festivals, that not only saves money but saves the environment.
