“World Culture Open dreams of a global community, where every life is valued and celebrated, where cultural diversity leads us to harmony instead of conflict, and where cultures connect us all.” World Culture Open(WCO) is a network of creatives and cultural leaders from around the globe, dedicated to facilitating open platforms that invite people to engage, enjoy, embrace, and be enriched together through intercultural exchange and multilateral collaboration, in pursuit of harmony of global community. WCO’s work spans from research and studies to the creation and designing of collaborative platforms and open gatherings at both global and local levels, including WCO Global Festival, WCO Global Awards and WCO Open Forums as well as a number of community projects and creative campaigns. Since 1999, WCO has been walking forward, envisioning a global organization and a living network of cultures where people from all walks of lives freely collaborate beyond borders; to promote cultural diversity, provide platforms that enhance creativity, and support global efforts to respond to the challenges of our present world. In the course of it, WCO has worked in close collaboration with various partners who share the common vision, both from private and public sectors including the UN, governments, local communities and organizations. Currently the President of WCO is Dr. Seok-hyun Hong, a cultural visionary, who is also the chairman of Joong Ang Media Group/ JTBC and was formerly the Ambassador of Korea to the US and the president of World Newspapers Association. WCO offices are located in Seoul, Jeju, Beijing and New York (liaison office).
