Shepherdstown Sweet Shop Bakery
www.wvbakery.comThe Shepherdstown Sweet Shop was established in 1982 (as Ye Olde Sweet Shoppe) and specializes in European style whole grain breads, sweet and savory pastries, wedding cakes and all-occasion cakes, cheesecakes, cookies, muffins and much, much more. Located in the small village of Shepherdstown, WV, our customers come from three neighboring states (MD, VA and PA), as well as Washington DC., and our mail order patrons range across the US from Florida to Alaska and Hawaii. We are a woman-owned business and our staff of about 20 consists of full-time professionals, vocational interns and students attending Shepherd University, our neighbor across the street. At any time of day you will find folks in our dining area enjoying an espresso drink with biscotti, a delicious sandwich made with our breads, or a scone and a cup of gourmet tea. The Sweet Shop is a place to relax, chat with strangers or bang on your laptop with our free WIFI. We are close to Harpers Ferry and Antietam and enjoy visits from both international and domestic tourists. Shepherdstown has its own unique history and our 200+-year-old building holds mementos from both the Revolutionary and Civil Wars. But we are mostly about food, good food, and our products have been featured on the Food Network and in Food Magazine - we are currently touting our best-donut-in-West-Virginia winner "Sweet Heat". And we are about community, doing our best to support local businesses, charities, kids sports and social organizations. Now in our 36th year, we plan to stick around a while longer.
