Innovator and Enabler The future of the manufacturing industry demands for advanced and sustainable solutions – not only to remain economically viable and competitive but also to meet environmental and climate protection requirements. Digitalization and Additive Manufacturing (AM), also known as 3D printing, offer extraordinarily profitable answers to these challenges. In this context, the Chair Digital Additive Production DAP was founded at RWTH Aachen University in August 2016 with the appointment of Prof. Johannes Henrich Schleifenbaum. Today, more than 120 motivated and talented employees research and develop the future of digitalization and Additive Manufacturing for a sustainable future. Our Topic We are experts in answering basic and application-specific questions related to Additive Manufacturing (AM) as well as product and production digitalization. Driven by enthusiasm and potential, we develop technologically excellent solutions. At the same time, we focus on the economic and environmental impact of our work as well as the potential benefits to our partners. Our Mission: Viable AM Solutions for a Better Tomorrow We are enablers: We contribute our expertise to strengthen and to advance the developing and the manufacturing industry in sustainable ways. Collaboration is our key to solve practice-relevant challenges and to expand technological limits based on our fundamental research results: To our partners from industry, we are a competent and reliable companion for their business´ transition from conventional manufacturing technologies to value-added AM implementation – from digitalization and production networking to materials and manufacturing to post-processing and quality assurance. Additionally, we provide tomorrow´s AM specialists and excellently trained Digital Natives.
