Velafrica promotes bicycle mobility in Tanzania, Burkina Faso, Madagascar, South Africa, Ivory Coast, Ghana and Gambia. Discarded bicycles are collected in Switzerland, repaired in 35 social enterprises and then shipped to Africa. On site the bicycles allow access to school, work and health facilities. Vocational training programmes in bicycle mechanics are promoted and developed so that young people are given a perspective and the bicycles are used sustainably. Jobs are created in the workshop, in sales and in administration.
