Gorey has a long standing artistic tradition dating back to 1968 with the opening of the Gorey Arts Centre which was the first centre of its kind in Ireland outside of Dublin.  Gorey Educational Trust LTD trading as Gorey School of Art is a registered charity (CHY 15873) with 8 directors. It is an independent, voluntary community group actively working with other groups and organisations for the betterment of the artistic and broader communities of Wexford, Ireland. The organisation provides a source of income for artists, facilitators, curators and educators. Gorey School of Art, in partnership with Gorey Community School, provides accredited education in a range of PLC courses and industry recognised training programmes. Gorey School of Art is a hive of creative activity and recognised throughout Ireland by key art institutions and organisations as a centre of excellence. We are a small, highly focused school with a staff of practicing artists from around the country. Students and staff promote a wide range of activities within a positive atmosphere. New ideas are always encouraged and developed through studio based projects, one-to-one tutorials, which are professionally relevant and current. Students flourish through project based blocks that allow for the development of artistic identities with an investigative sense that fosters current, innovative and critical thinking. The School is located in a rural community with access to internationally recognised artists and has been contributing to a progressive, vibrant and positive art environment in Wexford since 1994. In 2014 we opened the doors to our new purpose built multimedia building designed to house exhibitions, film screenings, talks, workshops and courses in filmmaking, photography, coding, 3D art, VR production and design.
