The New England Institute of Addiction Studies has been in existence for over 40 years. It is dedicated to the education of professionals, volunteers, and the general public concerning alcohol and drug prevention and treatment issues.The Institute is the primary organization through which the State Alcohol and Drug Agencies develop and deliver regional educational events. It maintains administrative offices in Augusta, ME, and is directed by Jenna Mehnert, MSW, ACSW. The Institute offers yearly intensive continuing education events supporting workforce development and skill building of the professionals and volunteers who provide services for substance abuse prevention, intervention, treatment and recovery organizations. The organization offers a variety of workforce development services, including the following yearly New England Summer Continuing Education Programs: The New England School of Addiction Studies and the New England School of Prevention Studies; and The New England School of Best Practices in Addiction Treatment
