The Macedon Ranges Sustainability Group is a non-profit organization with no political affiliations. Its purpose is to help the communities of the Macedon Ranges deal with the impacts of climate change and peak oil and encouraging a greater appreciation of ways to live more simply and work together in a sustainable manner. Our Vision To create and nurture sustainability by promoting local solutions and prosperity throughout the Macedon Ranges Shire Our Objectives To educate and assist the community to engage in activities, measures and lifestyle changes designed to: - significantly reduce our greenhouse gas emissions - reduce our ecological footprint; - reduce our reliance on non-renewable sources of energy - secure a local food supply and promote sustainable agricultural practices and - enjoy a more secure and prosperous future. What we do - promote community awareness and action related to climate change and sustainability issues - support sustainable locally-based businesses - initiate projects that support local solutions - foster links with other sustainability and like minded community groups - lobby all levels of government in areas related to our stated vision and purpose - auspice sustainability initiatives and smaller groups across the shire.
