The NYAGI Project

We save lives with ultrasound in poor, rural areas of the world ... together. The NYAGI Project is a 501(c)3 charitable organization dedicated to expand diagnostic ultrasound use in remote areas of the world - saving lives and connecting the world in the process. NYAGI (Now You Are the Group’s Interest): Nyagi is that mother or child in a poor, rural area desperately in need of medical care. The NYAGI Project combines volunteer expert sonographers, ultrasound learning software created by 7D Imaging Inc., donated iPads, and portable ultrasound machines to rapidly teach basic ultrasound skills to healthcare workers in low-resource areas. Tablets Saving Lives Donation Program: We re-purpose donated tablet computers (iPads) into "teachers in a tablet" education tools that bridge the globe. The donated iPads can be geo-tracked and updated, providing technological strings that connect the world, share information and enhance communication to those in rural areas. In collaboration with other charitable organizations and governments, we hope to bring the power of ultrasound and technology to help the under-served around the world. Social Impact: For over 50 years, ultrasound has been used in medicine to safely “look” inside the body. Ultrasound allows for real-time imaging of pregnant mothers and their babies, heart function, blood flow, internal organs, and breast cancer screening. The Problem: Learning ultrasound can be challenging. The Solution: We lower the “steep learning curve” of ultrasound using technology - repurposed iPads loaded with teaching software. Ultrasound experts provide rapid, hands-on training. Equipment miniaturization allows ultrasound to be easily carried in a small bag. Ultrasound is truly a modern-day crystal ball that can save lives in remote, hard to reach areas. Our future: Working with others to gather unused iPads, ultrasound experts, and organizations with a focus on international women's health.
