mi kids is a family-owned Northern Beaches long-day care early childhood centre and pre-school. The ‘mi’ in mi kids stands for multiple intelligence (Howard Gardner’s educational theory), which inspires our Centre’s philosophy and educational framework. Multiple intelligence theory recognises different learning styles in children and our educators tailor daily activities and learning opportunities to provide a teaching environment that focuses on each individual child. We provide a friendly, nurturing, and supportive environment for both our children and educators. We strongly believe children benefit from educators being with them in the present moment and tailor our system to allow staff to concentrate on achieving this. Two of the ways we do this is through a higher than required educator to child ratio in each room, and restricting paperwork to a daily reflective learning journal with meaningful photos. Our educators have access to ongoing professional development and training and are encouraged to share their ideas and suggestions for enhancing the way we work together as a team so we can always provide the best possible learning environment for our children.
