The Himalayan Family Healthcare Project (“HFHCP") is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded by Dr. Devi Gurung States dedicated to providing community-driven, primary health care services to improve health status of children and their families living in remote areas of Nepal. HFHCP goals: build a Hospital in the Manang District, provide medical outreach to all the citizens of the Manang District, and nearby residents, interface with the leaders of the area to promote better health, teaching processes to accomplish this, act as a conduit for sustainable food and ecological outreach oriented towards sustainable health care, etc – all intended to reduce the Morbidity and Mortality rates. The Manang District is on the northern border, central to the country and has few, if any, passable roads. Composed of small towns and villages the people rarely speak English yet are world renowned traders of many valuable commodities. Access makes this region unvisited except by trekkers and climbers into the Annapurna areas of the Himalayans. The remoteness causes poor healthcare, from all perspectives: the preventative care and active treatments for ailments. Partners with Wings of Hope St. Louis, is an international NGO headquartered in St. Louis, nominated in 2011 and 2012 for the Nobel Peace Prize. They operate 145 bases of humanitarian relief worldwide and helps secure resources, provide consultation and other support as required.
