Cultivate Inc.

As community members we are cultivating growth and stability for those impacted by the criminal justice system. We partner with others so that every individual and family we serve is empowered to look ahead to a promising future built on a foundation of sustaining life and professional skills and supportive networks in the community in which they live. In the past 5 years Cultivate Inc. has partnered with Johnson County Corrections to serve hundreds of individuals and families. We do this through two primary programs and a host of community supports. Since 2012 Cultivate Inc has supported families of those impacted by the criminal justice system using the Strengthening Families Program. This program is a nationally recognised best practice providing families with the skills to build family bonds, communicate effectively and set supportive limits within the home. Often for or individuals who have been impacted by the criminal justice system a stable job reduces the risk of recidivism. Cultivate Inc. is providing life and professional skills, industry recognized certifications and mentoring. Our program partners with Johnson County Corrections Adult Residential Center. The "College of Trades" is a collaborative effort inviting community partners who have an interest in investing in returning citizens. We offer a host of certification trainings including: Culinary, provided in full by Nourish KC; American Welding Society Certification in Welding, provided by Dennis Wright, Wright Weldin; CompTIA-A+ Certification, provided by Johnson County Community College Foundation; Fork Lift Certification through Kansas City Kansas Community College. In addition to job skills, the College of Trades includes three courses for those who will not enter the workforce soon: Creative Photography provided by the Addison Agency, Addison Stewart, Improv, provided by Elliott Hoffman; and Creative Writing with Julia Marquez from Arts in Prison.
