A Touch Of Understanding is a non-profit organization, in the Sacramento area, geared to promote disability awareness and understanding for individuals of all age groups, races, ethnicities, backgrounds, and abilities. We’re comprised of dedicated individuals, some with disabilities and some without, who come together to form a strong team working to help students look beyond the disability, the wheelchair, the braces, the unpredictable behavior and see the person. "Promoting Empathy- Igniting Respect" Our mission is to encourage acceptance and respect for all individuals. Our educational programs enhance understanding of differences, thereby minimizing discrimination and social isolation suffered by children and adults who are perceived as different for any reason, but especially those with disabilities. We are enriching the lives of all people by bridging the gap between individuals who have disabilities and those who do not. Barriers are being broken down and friendships are developing.
