In 2012, Social Sushi started as a pop up networking event with a focus on bringing together busy professionals, entrepreneurs, and Detroiters, new and old. After 2 years of successfully connecting thousands of people, creating a socially conscious brand paired with providing delicious sushi, and our very own twist on spicy mayo, we began to realize that there was a void in the city of Detroit for great sushi with a great atmosphere. We have now decided to evolve Social Sushi into a brick and mortar restaurant to fill this void! Social Sushi will be a sustainable sushi restaurant located in historic Corktown. Located near Wayne State University and College for Creative Studies, Corktown is a culturally cool and diverse atmosphere that has become the destination for people seeking a night out in the city. We are partnering with the Roosevelt Park Project to launch Social Sushi in a building in Roosevelt Park that is being constructed out of shipping containers and re-purposed building materials. By partnering with the Roosevelt Park Project, we'll not only have the opportunity to open a fast casual sushi restaurant but we'll also be able to assist with programming inside of the park that will allow us to continue our mission of bringing people together and creating experiences that competitors simply cannot duplicate. More excitingly, we look to be the very first sustainable sushi restaurant in Detroit!
