The Diligence and Delight Learning Center (DDC), based in Beijing, is an academic program for gifted students in China. Founded in 2014, DDC is dedicated to the concept of “complementary education” in which the content-rich emphasis of traditional Chinese education is blended with best practice in critical and creative thinking from Western education. To achieve this goal, DDC hires experienced teachers of the gifted from the US as program instructors. Each year DDC offers a variety of two- and three-week academic programs to gifted elementary and middle school youth, not only during summer vacation, but also during the extended Winter and Spring breaks. All courses are taught in English; the program curriculum includes STEM, humanities, and the arts. In 2016, DDC was awarded as the most influential education institution for STEM courses by Sina Education, one of the most authoritative education organizations in China.
