Family Service Ontario is an association that supports a network of 42 community-based Family Service agencies providing mental health, trauma and addictions services to over 250,000 Ontarians a year from more than 130 accessible storefronts province-wide. The association and its membership are an expert knowledge base that regularly consult with MPPs, bureaucrats and Local Health Integration Networks (LHINs) in the development of programs and policies and know what constituents want and need in their communities. Established in 1974 under a different name to provide accreditation to and create a provincial presence for Family Service agencies, Family Service Ontario transitioned into an advocate for its membership that now promotes innovation and engagement and builds capacity for its members. At the same time, the association acts as the voice of its membership to augment credibility with funders and decision-makers through facilitated and well executed dialogues to legitimize, position and promote the value of Family Service agencies across the province. Lead by a volunteer board of directors and executive director Susan MacIsaac, Family Service Ontario is the singular resource for information and consultation on issues regarding mental health, trauma and addictions issues in Ontario.
