A native New Yorker and “ARTIST” in every sense of the word, Onyx has been on the cutting edge of the New York City’s fashion scene since the mid-eighties. 
The pure energy of the city streets are his muse and he also draws inspiration from the constantly evolving color and style of downtown Manhattan. After studying fashion design at the Fashion Institute of Technology he began to refine his design skills by working for several notable fashion houses. In 1989 Noir branched out by creating the iconic Kane & Onyx label and retail store with partner Kanae Maeda. Together they designed a successful sportswear collection that became the very definition of early nineties chic and sold to over 250 stores worldwide. With over twenty years experience in the fashion industry, Onyx continues to live his dream creating beautiful collections for both women and men around the globe. When not busy designing for private clients he gives back to the community by lending his time and talent to charities and causes that are near and dear to his heart.
