Natchitoches is the oldest settlement in the Louisiana Purchase and was founded by the French in 1714. We are located in NWLA and have a population of just under 20,000. Natchitoches is home to Northwestern State University, the Cane River National Heritage Area, a National Historic Landmark District, the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame and Northwest Louisiana History Museum and many, many other great attractions. Our local industry is primarily Healthcare, Education and Manufacturing.
