WELCOME TO OUR WORLD! Mingzhu Nerval focuses on conceiving vertical living walls & luxury gardens. The company was founded in 2010 by Bai Mingzhu, a fashion designer from China, & Antoine Nerval, an agricultural engineer from France. Their team of experts strives to create the most beautiful vertical gardens in the world. Mingzhu Nerval works with & is recommended by architects like Zaha Hadid, SWA, KPF & contracted by clients like the Shanghai Municipality, Regional Council of Normandy & Google, including multi-million-dollar commissions around the world. OUR DREAM ‘Mingzhu’ (鳴築) means ‘birds singing through architecture/the city’—this is our dream; our daily work is to make it true. We blend our fashion design, fine arts, engineering backgrounds & our Chinese & French sensibilities to do things that are wild, romantic & sometimes graphic. OUR INSPIRATION The works of Friedensreich Hundertwasser were the catalyst for creating our company. The Austrian artist/architect showed us it's possible to link nature, cities & art. Another foundation of our aesthetics is graffiti art: painting walls! Fashion design is also an inspiration—we build our gardens just like constructing an Haute Couture garment. OUR APPROACH As agricultural engineers, we conceive gardens as resource-efficient ecosystems. As fashion designers, we build gardens plant by plant, just like sewing a one-of-a-kind tapestry. And as gardeners, we love to work with delicate, rare & complex plants, & take care of our gardens to show how sumptuous they become over time.
