At St. Luke Eye Institute, we examine patients of all ages, from infants to senior citizens. Our doctors perform routine annual eye health exams for glasses and contact lenses. Every exam is tailored to meet the individual needs of each patient. We also provide specialty services, such as treating: infections, crossed eye/lazy eye, keratoconus, dry eyes, glaucoma, diabetic eye examinations, and co-managing patients for LASIK or cataract surgery. Our on-site 9th Avenue Optical provides patients with quality eyewear fitted by certified opticians. St. Luke Eye Institute was founded in 1986 by Dr. Andrew Alpar and his father, Dr. John Alpar. Dr. Candace Lipshy joined the practice in 1993. The doctors of St. Luke Eye Institute have always emphasized the importance of using the latest technology and research to provide the highest quality eyecare for patients. Our doctors have participated in research trials, many of which have resulted in approval of eye drugs we use today. St. Luke Eye Institute is the only eyecare facility in Amarillo where all of the doctors have been appointed as Fellows of the American Academy of Optometry or Ophthalmology.
