Alison Moore Designs
www.alisonmoore.co.ukAlison Moore’s distinctive precious metal and gemstone jewellery is all designed and made by hand in her studio, which is located in Dounby on the west mainland of the beautiful Scottish islands of Orkney. Alison’s work reflects her own personal style and she endeavours to create unique pieces that are understated, timeless yet utterly contemporary. It was following Alison’s honeymoon in Orkney that reignited her lifelong passion for gemstones and inspired her to change career and follow her ambition to become a bespoke jewellery designer. As a former geology student, Alison has always been fascinated by minerals and it is this interest and knowledge that defines her collections. She ethically sources unusual gemstones, such as labradorite and morganite from all over the world, and it is the stone that often dictates the design of each piece. Alison’s designs often evolve organically at the workbench. She likes to experiment with different silversmithing techniques and is influenced by what is happening around her – whether that is the natural environment, an unusual gemstone, fashion, moods or memories. Her work has clean lines with textured, natural and tactile finishes. Gems add touches of colour and light. Her bespoke scottish jewellery, is fresh, elegant, and something to be treasured. Four years on from the start of Alison’s love affair with Orkney and for jewellery design, she already has a loyal and wide-ranging customer base. Many of her collections are available in exclusive gift shops throughout Orkney and further afield.
