carpenters’ mess was launched in 2017 as a partnership between producers David Barrett and Jason Huxley. With both founders having extensive credits across TV networks in Australia, the US and the UK, carpenters’ mess brings a wealth of TV production experience to a number of genres including factual, documentary, lifestyle, children's entertainment and natural history. carpenters’ mess are producers of thought provoking and groundbreaking shows. We gather ourselves as a highly experienced team of experts that take pride in telling amazing stories well. Exciting concepts that take audiences in new and interesting ways. We take risks with our new ideas allowing our collaborators to thrive and grow as they align with our vision to captivate viewers and inspire them. Prior to forming carpenters’ mess, both David and Jason had varied careers spanning across broadcast, branded and digital as well as working on landmark events such as the Olympics, Paralympics, Commonwealth Games and European Football Championships. While working together as freelancers on popular worldwide shows The Wild Life of Tim Faulkner, Bondi Vet, The Living Room and Ask the Doctor, David and Jason experienced a meeting of minds that inspired the formation of carpenters’ mess. A combined vision of two people that love making great TV. The name carpenters’ mess itself is taken from a brass plaque that has resided on David’s bedroom door at his parents since childhood. ‘Requisitioned’ on the final voyage home of the Queen Mary, the world’s favourite ocean liner, before she left Southampton for the final time to where she now resides as a floating hotel, conference centre and visitor attraction in Long Beach, California. A carpenters' mess is the eating and relaxation area on a ship for tradesmen, often where creative practices took place.
