Meals on Wheels of Columbia is a non-profit organization that aims to extend independence to seniors in our community. Through the help of our many volunteer drivers, we are able to provide a hot, nutritious meal to those with limited mobility. Though receiving a daily meal makes a huge difference in the life of someone who can't get out on their own, the benefit doesn't stop there. In addition to addressing hunger, the Meals on Wheels delivery may be the only point of social interaction the recipient has for an entire day. Many times, these individuals will look forward to the visit—even giving them a reason to get up and get dressed for the day.
