Now celebrating more than 100 years, Exbury Gardens is a spectacular collection of woodland, herbaceous, contemporary, formal and wildflower gardens. At over 200 acres, our impressive gardens (created and managed by the Rothschild family) border the Beaulieu River and boast a narrow-gauge steam railway, plus a newly refurbished restaurant and an outdoor cafe. Exbury Gardens & Steam Railway is a charitable company registered with the Charity Commission for England and Wales (registration number 801349). Charity mission: - maintain, improve, develop and preserve the gardens for the public benefit. - open the gardens to the public. - advance horticultural science, knowledge and learning for the public benefit. We currently maintain an ongoing propagation and development programme for the gardens and have also established a detailed database of the plants held including the National Collection of Nyssa and Oxydendrum. The charity also supports ongoing plant hunting expeditions and links with China in the continued development of horticultural knowledge and science.
