Metro Blind Sport is a London based charity, creating fun, accessible sport and social activities for people who are blind and partially sighted of all ages and abilities. As a constantly growing membership organisation of just under 400 members, Metro Blind Sport has helped to enable sustainable, active participation since 1973. More than two million people in the UK live with sight loss, with 194,000 people in London alone, which causes a significant impact on their life. Metro Blind Sport are: Influencers At the forefront of promoting blind and partially sighted sport since it began nearly 50 years ago, we have influenced the sector by providing advice and adaptions on equipment development alongside other charities and NGB’s. Informers We have informed the sector through an insightful approach to vision impaired participation and recognised as a trusted organisation that focuses on increased accessibility through our communications and delivery. Enablers We have supported qualified coaches who are trained to incorporate specialist equipment and enable small adaptions to enhance inclusivity within traditional sport and physical activity and physical activity. Volunteer focused We work with a small, but effective team of volunteers who help to manage, organise and lead specific sports; many of these participants are members of Metro Blind Sport.
