Biolink Attention Training was founded in 2008 by Prof. Deon Visser and his wife, Karin. Their journey with a child that is ‘different’, however, started a few years earlier when their eldest son was diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome as well as ADHD. Deon is a Professor in Chemistry, and Karin is a qualified teacher. Their road was not an easy one, especially when their second son was also diagnosed with ADHD and struggled with anxiety and impulse control. They know how difficult it can be watching a bright child struggle and fail. They were looking for a way that would allow their sons to unlock their potential, and that would help them thrive and succeed. Through their research, they realised that developing the cognitive and executive function skills of an individual is the answer to all the questions they have been asking. Thus, the dream of opening centres across the world that could help children and adults became a reality, and Biolink Attention Training was founded. Today, it’s a family business. In 2013, Karin’s sister; Marlize Robberts, joined the team. She is a qualified, registered nurse and worked for one of the world’s largest pharmaceutical companies specialising in ADHD medication. Both Karin and Marlize have adult ADHD, which puts them in a place of better understanding. If you know how that person feels, you know how to help him/her that much better. Deon, Karin, and Marlize have had the tremendous opportunity of assisting countless children and adults. If you ask them what has been the most exciting or rewarding part of their journey, they will say in unison that it has been the experience of helping people, young and old, on their journey of developing the executive function skills they need in order to accomplish their goals.
