Black in Gaming is an active community dedicated to cultivating, supporting, and promoting Black professionals in the video game industry. We actively work to create opportunities for Black people in the video game industry while also developing action plans to combat systemic institutionalized racism that manifests itself in unsafe spaces, micro-aggressions and hidden discrimination in the workplace. A mere 2% of the video game development community is Black even though 81% of African Americans consider themselves game friendly. Our goal is to increase the number of Black people in the industry from 2% to 5% in five years through education, advocacy, community and cultivation of opportunities.
