Emmaus Gloucestershire

www.emmausglos.org.uk

Emmaus isn’t like any other charity, and our shops are different too. We think we are special and the work we do really needs doing. We are passionate about giving to and working with others who are less fortunate than ourselves. Our re-use social enterprise helps us to be self-supporting and we believe that everything that is re-useable should be re-used. Through our three shops we offer pre-loved furniture and household goods for sale to the whole community, so whether you need a cheap bargain or you’re searching for some shabby chic, come and have a look around. We offer home, work, companionship and support to 22 people who prior to coming to Emmaus were homeless or vulnerably housed and unemployed. Companions, as residents are known, sign off state income support benefits and agree to work in our social enterprises 40-hours/week in exchange for room, board, a small allowance and access to support and development opportunities. Companions fully engage in the social enterprise and in our work to help others that are less fortunate, which we refer to as solidarity. We give time, money and our support to those that are less fortunate.
