𝐢𝐃𝐄 𝐈𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐋𝐚𝐛 The iDE Innovation Lab is the first innovation lab of its kind in 𝐀𝐬𝐢𝐚 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐀𝐟𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚, with a mission to bring the best practices in innovation to serve the poor. The iDE Innovation Lab is a non-profit consulting practice within iDE, based in Asia and Africa. The iDE Innovation Lab also functions as a strategy and innovation consultancy in focus areas of water, sanitation & hygiene, climate change (clean energy, conservation), agriculture, and maternal health & nutrition. Over the years, we have worked with a portfolio of international development organisations such as Care International, Hellen Keller, USAID, UNICEF, World Bank Group, Plant and Food Research, Save the Children, and SNV. 𝐇𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐧-𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐃𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧 guides our work at the lab. Our multi‐disciplinary lab is made up of 𝐭𝐨𝐩‐𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐛𝐫𝐞 𝐃𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧‐𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐤𝐞𝐫𝐬 from around the globe. We are close‐knit, flexible, and creative, and enjoy working on diverse and challenging projects that really matter. We have worked to design a range of solutions, including 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐬, 𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬, 𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐛𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐟𝐢𝐥𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐝𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫, 𝐥𝐨𝐰-𝐜𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐭𝐨𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐬, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐟𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐰𝐚𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬. In Cambodia, iDE has reached 180,000 households with farming, business, water and sanitation solutions. Whether it’s a pump to better irrigate fields or a market for affordable toilets, iDE improves income opportunities by developing markets and solutions. iDE’s success in applying HCD to create an affordable latrine led to a feature article in Fast Company, and presentations to Harvard, UNICEF, and the United Nations.
