Mountain Hospice
www.mountainhospice.comMountain Hospice was established in 1991. It was originally named “The Hospice of Barbour County”, but in 1994, the name was changed to Mountain Hospice. Mountain Hospice was started in Barbour County by a caring group of citizens who recognized the people in their community who were dying of non-curable illnesses in their homes, in hospitals, often left alone, and isolated. These caring people united to meet this need and became the founders of our organization. Through their hard work and constant nurturing, Mountain Hospice grew and expanded to provide hospice services to a growing number of terminally-ill patients and their families. The relentless efforts of the founders and volunteers generated funds and donations to help this organization develop and flourish into one of the most outstanding hospices in the state. The positive comments we receive about our staff reflect our long standing goal - to provide “Comfort and Compassion When It’s Needed Most”. The support we give to hospice patients has not only been a great asset to the Barbour County community but has been made available to residents in other areas. Since 1994, our hospice services have been added to six more counties: Mineral, Randolph, Tucker, Pendleton, Pocahontas, and Grant Counties.
