Boston Harbor Island Alliance is a non-traditional non-profit. We are ‘social entrepreneurs’ and the business agent of the Boston Harbor Island National Recreation Area. No other city has a resource quite like this - 34 islands comprising an urban park, rich in history and natural beauty, minutes from downtown. In this era of strained government funding, we play a vital role in providing awareness of and access to this island resource. As a non-profit, we raise funds from corporations, foundations and individuals; what makes us special is our nimble, effective execution of community programs and architectural, engineering and construction projects. BHIA's mission is to promote the use, enjoyment, and awareness of the Boston Harbor Islands national park area by creating vibrant public spaces, facilities, and programming on the islands, raising and managing the public and private resources necessary to do so.
