Boundless Brilliance is a LA based nonprofit that energizes young girls to embrace their brilliance and works to close the gender gap in STEM fields. To accomplish our mission, we bring free presentations to elementary school classrooms that encourage students to explore futures in STEM fields. Our presenters are a diverse group of college student volunteers who are passionate about equity in STEM. Our goal is to dismantle the exclusionary conception of who can be a scientist before young students are old enough to internalize the social biases that exist in the field. At Boundless Brilliance, we aim to show all students that their potential is infinite, their intelligence is unlimited, and that anyone can be a scientist. We want to build interest in science among marginalized students to build a more egalitarian future. The organization was founded in January 2017 by three women at Occidental College. In 1.5 years, the Occidental College chapter of Boundless Brilliance has grown to 60 volunteers, delivering hundreds of presentations at 11 local schools, reaching over 7,000 students. Boundless Brilliance is currently building additional college chapters throughout Southern California.
