It is the chair of modernization, digital transformation, its links with the industry 4.0. It is a comprehensive, multidisciplinary, industrial research program with industrial leadership and a scientific research. It will help Players along the construction industry’s value chain – architects, designers, engineers, building material suppliers, contractors, and operations and maintenance companies to prepare strategically and make the right moves to thrive amid the disruptions the new technologies and trends could cause. The main research topics of the construction will include (i) the industrialization and robotization of construction, (ii) the construction site 4.0 of tomorrow, (iii) 3D printing in Construction, (iv) digitization, (v ) the organization and the new business model, (vi) the tunnel and infrastructure of the city of tomorrow, (vii) predictive maintenance. The Chair will propose: 1. to produce a scientific research about future technologies and bring an added value for competitiveness for industries and stakeholders (suppliers, customers, providers), stimulate to new job, development of skills and open markets. 2. to promote debates and exchange of ideas focus on the construction industry of the future and its evolution, bringing together international experts, stakeholders from various industrial sectors; 3. to attract new talent and build up required skills – as any future scenario requires talent with substantially different skills than today's workforce possesses, and adequate upskilling processes are largely not in place. 4. to integrate and collaborate across the construction industry’s value chain – as the construction industry is characterized by a disintegrated and highly fragmented value chain, which hampers the seamless data flows and integrated systems that are essential in any future scenario.
