Newman offers a gateway to Karijini National Park and the Canning Stock Route. Mining within the Shire produces half of Western Australia’s iron ore. The total value of commodities mined in 2020 was over $57.6 billion - over 20% of the annual resource and energy exports market, making the area significant to State and National GDP.
