State owned Hospital of Traumatology and Orthopedics is a special hospital focusing on bone and soft tissue trauma, orthopedics and spine surgery. Hospital has 250 beds, 11 operating rooms and is the leader in orthopedic care in Latvia. Each year we perform more than 10 000 operations. Joint replacement department perform >2 000 primary surgeries for hips, knees, shoulders, elbows, ankles. All modern techniques are available (mini invasive surgery, hip resurfacing, unicondylar knees, mobile bearing implants and others). More than 200 endoprothetic revision operations (for different reasons) are accomplished for patients primary operated in all Latvian hospitals and abroad. Our spine specialists are experienced in diagnosing and treating spine problems and the pain they cause, using all topical techniques (minimaly invasive microdiscectomy, all kind and all level transpedicular fixations including percutaneus method, cervical and lumbar intervertebral disc prosthesis, vertebroplasty). Different bone and soft tissue trauma, limb reconstruction surgery with external fixation techniques (Ilizarov, Kalnberzs) can be treated at the higher level in trauma surgery departments. Rehabilitation department offer in-patient and out-patient physical therapy and rehabilitation courses, massages.
