Birmingham As Basketball Club
www.babasketball.co.ukThe Birmingham A's were formed in April 2004 by local members of the community that wanted to offer talented young people in the community the opportunity to play Basketball. The club has gone from strength to strength and can now boast that it is by far the largest club in the city with the widest range of basketball delivery, nurturing and operating teams at all ages and skill levels across Birmingham and the West Midlands. Our vision is to create over the next two years leading up to and beyond the Olympic game; THE most socially profitable, socially identifiable, outcomes driven community based basketball club in the country; educating, training and employing young people and the long-term unemployed. to deliver all of our goods and services to local schools and community groups. The mission is to create the largest social firm in the country dedicated to fighting the sometimes negative impact of living in deprived neighbourhoods in an often dysfunctional environment which can often lead to negative social outcomes. We wish to use the basketball club to tackle these potential negative outcomes by providing education, training and employment within the sports industry to members of these communities. Our values are to respect all religions and cultures within our community and to accept and to integrate all newcomers. Our club prides itself on its diversity and tolerance of others. We do not discriminate on the grounds of gender, race, religion, disability or sexual orientation and embrace all who wish to be part of our club by being totally inclusive.
