Staywell (Charity no. 299988)
www.staywellservices.org.ukStaywell is an independent, award-winning charity providing a range of services for people in south-west London and Surrey. The foundations of our organisation date back to 1946 and in 2016 we celebrated 70 years of working in the community. Our organisation has evolved during its long history and also incorporates Malden and Coombe Old People’s Welfare Association and Age Concern Kingston. We changed our working name to Staywell from Age Concern Kingston upon Thames on 1st September 2014. Our core work is with older people and their carers and we aim to support our users to live with independence and dignity, decide the direction of their own lives and enjoy life as part of the community. We work to influence local policy and practice and create a greater understanding of the needs of older people and their potential to contribute to community life. We aim to foster greater understanding between the generations by involving younger people in our work through volunteering. Through our furniture recycling service, Kingston Community Furniture, we address the needs of people who experience financial hardship and disadvantage for reasons other than age. We offer a holistic, evidence-based range of services designed to help people stay well and independent in their own homes. Our buildings in New Malden and Kingston act as hubs which can respond flexibly and creatively to the needs and aspirations of a wide range of people with a range of targeted prevention and support services provided in buildings, complemented by flexible outreach services provided from buildings. On 1 April 2016 we took over the management of three centres in the borough of Reigate and Banstead, which house some of the area’s services for older people.
