Technology Innovation in Exploration & Mining Foundation (TEXMiN) is a section-8 organization created under the aegis of National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical Systems (NM-ICPS) program by Department of Science and Technology, Govt of India established at IIT (ISM) Dhanbad. The Director, IIT (ISM) Dhanbad is the Chairman of the Board. The objective of TEXMiN is the development of commercially feasible solutions in the mineral exploration and mining domains using cyber physical systems for improved resource discovery, enhanced efficiency, and productivity in Indian mines by integrating Sensors, the Internet of Things, and Artificial Intelligence in Physical Systems. It has been mandated to act as a stand-alone think-tank/mini ministry for cyber-physical product development & commercialization; Innovation, incubation & Entrepreneurial activities, and capacity building in India leading to Mining 4.0. TEXMiN is aimed at: - Developing modern and sophisticated exploration methods/ integrated techniques (Geophysical, Geological & Remote Sensing) for (i) Identifying new and potentially viable areas to mine by locating deep concealed deposits and minimizing exploration drilling, and (ii) Lower the cost of mineral exploration through pattern matching, predictive analytics, and computer vision systems. - Achieving 3S Mining (Safe, Smart, and Sustainable Mining leading to Mining 4.0) through operation & process optimization across the mining value chain by developing CPS based technologies for (i) Surveillance and evacuation system for underground mine safety (ii) Low-cost integrated monitoring systems to predict and prevent accidents/disasters, and, (iii) Decision Support Systems for significant improvements in equipment productivity and reduced maintenance costs.
