The Amal Center for Women is a registered non-profit and community-based organization focused on addressing the needs of women and families affected by domestic abuse. This community initiative was launched in early 2002 by a group of committed women, to respond to a growing need for a psychosocial center that specialized in women’s issues with a culturally-sensitive approach. The name “Amal” in Arabic means “hope,” and we at the Amal Center believe that our community has a responsibility to provide hope and aid women and their families facing abuse.
