As a leader in the industry, Cowan's has disrupted the marketplace from the start and was among the earliest auction houses to launch a website and sell online. In 2014, Cowan’s, along with five competitors, launched Bidsquare.com, an online bidding platform where auction houses are vetted to ensure honesty and quality. Founded in 1995, Cowan's started in founder and owner Wes Cowan's garage where he held mail-in and phone auctions. Wes quickly built a reputation as an expert who brought a new level of scholarship and honesty to the arena.
