Craig L. McAllester, Inc., established in 1991, is an architectural design firm specializing in Animal Care Facility Design. In the early years, much of our work was custom Residential, Commercial, Tenant Improvement, and Industrial Design. Craig designed his first boarding kennel in 2003, and since 2005, the main focus of the company has been animal related facilities. Projects include Animal Hospitals, and kennels & catteries for Boarding, Animal Shelters, Police, Military and the United States Department of Homeland Security/Boarder Patrol, all across the USA and in other countries around the world. In addition, Craig routinely provides consulting services. Either long distance, from the studio in Lancaster, PA or by meeting with clients, face-to-face, on-site anywhere the project demands. Most commonly, consulting clients are either architects who have a project, but have never designed an animal care facility before or an animal shelter needing advice on growing their facility or developing a master plan. Designs are created using the latest 3D design software Revit®, and according to the latest building codes IBC and ANSI ICC A117, (more commonly known as the ADA or accessibility compliance). Also available is project coordination and engineering of Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Plumbing, and Electrical disciplines using our engineering consultants, and the designs in SIP and ICF Construction types, Green Building, and Smart Homes design. Craig has also written several books and articles on kennel design, and he invented and patented a tool, PitchFinder, for measuring roof pitch and angles in construction.
