American Bible Society is a nonprofit organization dedicated to making the Bible accessible, affordable, and alive for every person. Since our founding in 1816, our goal has been to see hearts engaged and lives transformed by the power of God’s Word. Now in our third century, we operate five distinct ministries designed to bring the Scriptures to every corner of the globe. Bible Translation: One billion people are living without the Word of God in their heart language. We answer the call of the Great Commission by working toward translating God’s Word into every living language by 2033. First Bible: We deliver God’s Word to people around the world. Through distribution efforts like Bibles for China and the Million Bible Mission, we make Bible ownership and daily Scripture engagement a reality for people separated from God’s Word by barriers like poverty or persecution. Bible-based Trauma Healing: Whether experienced through war, abuse, disaster, or addiction, trauma impacts people from every culture and background. Our Bible-based trauma healing ministry introduces hurting people in more than 100 countries to the universal truths of God’s Word, offering hope in the darkest of circumstances. Armed Services Ministry: United States Military members, Veterans, and their families often feel alone in the unique challenges that come with serving our nation. We deploy millions of Bibles and partner with chaplains and church leaders to develop and deliver life-saving U.S. Military ministry resources to our brave Service members. Faith and Liberty Discovery Center: America’s history has been profoundly shaped by the Scriptures, but most Americans have lost touch with the biblical truths that guided our nation for generations. We offer 250,000 curious visitors per year the chance to reclaim their spiritual heritage, paving the way for future generations to have a clear, active understanding of the Bible’s role in our history and God’s purpose for our lives.
