Arkwright Engineering Scholarships is the most esteemed scholarship programme of its type in the UK, designed to inspire students to pursue their dreams and change the world as a future leader in engineering. Part of educational charity The Smallpeice Trust, the fully sponsored scholarship programme aims to give young people from all backgrounds the chance to experience the exciting world of engineering. Students apply for the scholarship in Year 11 (England and Wales), S4 (Scotland) or Year 12 (Northern Ireland), undertaking a rigorous selection process where they must showcase their passion for engineering and their potential as a future leader. If successful, Scholars are then awarded in Year 12 (England and Wales), S5 (Scotland) or Year 13 (Northern Ireland). Scholars are supported through their final years of school with access to a range of unique benefits including financial support, professional mentoring, industry experience and exclusive events. Every Scholarship is sponsored by a commercial company, trade association, university, professional institution, armed service, government organisation, worshipful company, charitable trust or personal donor. This means that support is offered in various different ways, for example, hands-on work experience, support with curriculum projects, networking events and advice on future careers.
