The Society represents and support the craft of saddlery and harness making and fitting in the fields of trade manufacturing, retail and individual craftspeople. Makes available a list of all members to the public. Promotes the Society and its members through our comprehensive web site Conducts the Society's Qualified Saddle Fitters Course. Conducts the Introductory Course in Saddle Fitting in conjunction with the British Equestrian Trade Association. Conducts the Overseas Retailers Saddle Fitting Course to encourage export of UK manufactured saddles and gain International recognition. Conducts the Bridle Fitting Course to improve knowledge on the fit and uses of bridlework. Arranges Seminars for members covering topical themes. Carries out research using the Pliance pressure testing system, owned in conjunction with the BEF. Provides advice on training and entry into the trade. Assists in the administration of the Millennium Apprenticeship Scheme Encourages co-operation between members through regional groups. Organises the annual National Saddlery Competition Distribute a Newsletter to members. Attends major equestrian events to promote the Society and its members.
