The ASUM Office of Transportation promotes and provides transportation options to students, faculty and other members of the University of Montana community. We encourage all alternative forms of transportation -- especially walking, biking and busing -- and are dedicated to sustainable practices in daily transportation. Our zero-fare UDASH bus system services the University of Montana area and has become the preferred commuting method for at least 16% of UM students; total ridership has increased by an average of 27,018 rides per year since our inception in 1999. As one of only a handful of student-run transit systems in the country, student employees at ASUM Transportation gain a unique variety of experience. Because all UDASH buses are operated by UM student employees, ASUM Transportation provides tens of flexible, on-campus student jobs each semester. UDASH bus drivers are not just the most highly paid student employees at the University of Montana, but they are also professional achievers gaining valuable experience operating large vehicles, managing crowds and working in teams toward a greater goal.
