Where did the name Jakoba come from ? The employee performance management process is typically a painful process in many companies. Employees and managers engage in the process grudingly and primarily because its a requirement to getting paid more. As a result, this process tends to be viewed as one that only has a very small influence on the day-to-day operations in a business. However, we believe that with the right tools this process can significantly influence positive business results. We also believe that when employees and managers are shown how the employee performance process has direct relevance to the business and how they as individuals can engage in this process in a familiar and intuitive way, they will be become strong advocates of the entire process. Its the difference between what is the "today" view and what is possible tomorrow that gave rise to Jakoba's name. Jakoba is the name of both a microbe and a minor planet (an asteroid called 1893 Jakoba to be specific). We chose the name because it represents the vast potential to transform this process from something that tends to be small and insignificant into something that is considered a large driver for business success.
